Eidfjord to Bergen – 17 June 2018

After leaving the Fossli Hotel we drive down into the valley to look at the Vøringsfossen waterfall, it looks even larger from down here than it did from the top.  We drive into the township of Eidfjord and there is a massive blade that was used to carve the tunnel out through the mountain.  After a coffee we start our drive on the main road that joins Oslo to Bergen, past beautiful fjords & lakes.

After arriving in Bergen we visit the information centre &  walk around the centre of town to familiarise ourselves with the city before we go to check into our apartment.

After settling into our apartment, we walk into the city centre and visit the fish market where we get a view across the harbour to the famous coloured wooden houses.  We then take a ride on the funicular up to one of the 5 peaks surrounding the city, where we get an amazing view.

We walk around the peak through a forest of huge trees that are growing out of the rocks and continue to a lake.

We have dinner in a lovely restaurant that was recommended to us by our host’s nephew and the food is outstanding.
