Copenhagen – 7 June 2018

This morning we catch the ferry from our apartment up to see the Mermaid on the Rock.  There are some beautiful old timber sailing boats moored in the harbour.  Today we get to see the mermaid from the land.

We then walk  through the gardens past St Albans church with an interesting fountain out the front.

We then walk through Churchill Park and head to The Amalienborg Palace to watch the changing of the guards.

The changing of the guards is a very casual event with the public being lined up behind a line on the stones.  There are no fences or rope to keep us back, but everyone obeys the policemen and stand along the line to watch the guards march along and change from the red squad to the white squad.

We then walk up the mall the The Marble Church which is magnificent.

It’s then time for a coffee so we head to Nyhavn and sit in a cafe overlooking the boats & the harbour drinking our coffee. It’s  very sunny and warm and there are lots of people out walking and sitting sunning themselves.

We leave Ros & John and wander through the malls of Copenhagen and have a Danish open sandwich for lunch, they are great one of them is prawns and roe.

We then visit the Lego shop where there are some amazing things built from lego blocks including Thomas the Tank Engine, C3PO, R2D2 & an amazing scene of Nyhavn.

We enjoy a beautiful dinner in a restaurant on an old concrete barge that is moored not far from our apartment and afterwards we relax while watching yet another magnificent sunset.
