8th July – Budapest to Vienna (Austria)

4 Days until we arrive in Abingdon.

This morning we drive around this beautiful city of Budapest and as it’s Saturday so the traffic is light.  From our hotel we cross the Danube and weave our way up to the Heroes Square.

We then drive down Andrassy which is a lovely tree lined boulevard full of beautiful old buildings and back across the Chain bridge and up to the Citadel.

On our way out we visit Memento Park which is full of relocated statues from Hungary’s Communist period (1949 – 1989) of Lenin,  Marx, Engels and various Hungarian communist leaders.

We drive approximately 240 km to Vienna in Austria.  The border crossing is a non event we just slow down & drive through.  All around the border for tens of kilometres there is a huge wind farm, one to rival the size if the Chinese wind farms.

We arrive at Vienna early afternoon and catch a tram into the city centre where we wander around taking in this magnificent city.

We even see an MGTF parked in the street.

St Stephens bathed in the afternoon sun looms large over the square.
