Sandtorg to Tromso – 26 June 2018

We wake to more rain this morning as we look around the lovely old hotel at Sandtorg.  We are staying in a building next to the main hotel building.

It is very windy and the baby birds are getting blown out of their nests and it must be very hard for even the older birds to take off.  The wind is whipping up the white caps on the water where the iron soldier memorial sculptures stand on the shore.

The hotel specialises in special functions and in particular weddings, so they have a special Bridal  Suite in it’s own little building.

We don’t have very far to drive today to our destination of Tromso, which is good as yesterday was a big day of driving and sight seeing.  On the way we stop at a Sami Lavvu for a rest and a cup of coffee.

After settling into our apartment in Tromso we go to the supermarket and buy food for dinner and to the Vinmonopolet to buy wine for the night.  Before heading back for dinner we go for a drive around the city, through their wonderful tunnels with roundabouts under the city.
