29th April 2015 – Seattle

This morning we visit The Museum of Flight at Boeing. We are led out there on the motorway by Ken Bottini in his MGB V8 roadster and at times we have trouble keeping up with him as he puts his foot down. Ken is from the Northwest chapter of the MGCC and is also a volunteer guide at the museum so we will have a personalized tour.ÿ As we arrive there is a TV camera man filming us as we drive into the car park. What we didn’t know is the Seattle King 5 TV channel are doing a story on us for their 6:30 pm news tonight. We have reserved parking spaces that are roped off for us so we feel very special.Dave (RIP) & Sue (red car) are interviewed first about the trip and then Michael & I are interviewed about our car.The end result can be viewed here:http://www.king5.com/story/news/local/seattle/2015/04/29/mg-car-club-driving-from-argentina-to-alaska/26608785/Once inside the museum we go to the World War I display first and see tri-planes and bi-planes and even a basket that’s was used to spy on the enemy. Next we go to the World War II display and see the improvements in the plane designs over the years of the war. After lunch we go to the Space display and get to walk through a space shuttle. We then go onto a Concord, which is very narrow and low.We go through one of the Air force 1 planes that was used between 1959 and 1972, by Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson & Nixon. Lastly we get to go through the first Dreamliner plane built, it looks very comfortable especially in business class.Tonight members of the Northwest Chapter take us for dinner to a restaurant called Ivars Salmon House which is right on Lake Washington looking over to the city. We get to try different types of salmon which is not farmed but caught in the wild and it’s delicious.ÿ The MG members of the Northwest chapter have been very generous giving up their time and taking leave from work just for us, it is greatly appreciated.
