15th January 2015 – Hornopiren to Caleta Gonzalo

These are some of the views around the port of Hornopiren – Today we had a 3 hour ferry ride on an ex Greek ferry to Leptepu. We then drove 10 km on a gravel road to Fiord Largo and caught another ferry from here to Caleta Gonzalo. Michael relaxing while waiting for the ferry:-Here is some of the scenery we saw on the ferry trips. All along the coast line the locals were farming salmon. We stayed in cosy little Cabanas right on the water in Parque Pumalin, which is owned by an American philanthropist who owns the “North Face” business which sells outdoor gear. It is a protected area of approx. 300,000 acres where there are plenty of Puma’s, not that we saw any.
