6th June – Tashkent

This morning we have a city tour of Tashkent which has a population of 2.2 million but Kay has an upset tummy, probably due to yesterday’s ice cream,  so she stays at the hotel while Michael goes on the tour.

The city tour goes to the Khast Imam complex that includes the Barakkhan Madrasah, Kaffal Shasi Mausoleum and the library of Islamic Literature with the Holy Koran Book of the 7th century.  Unfortunately photos of the Koran Book are not allowed.

A walk through the old city before returning to the hotel reveals narrow streets.

Around the hotel there are some interesting buildings and a lovely statue of Amir Temur on his horse with our hotel in the background.

Our cars are parked right out the front of the hotel next to the camel statue and draw quite a crowd.

Kay is feeling much better this afternoon, so tonight we travel on the Tashkent metro and visit some of the decorative Soviet style railway stations.  Unfortunately no photos are allowed to be taken but there are many photos online. follow this link
