Helsinki to Travemunde (Germany) via ferry down the Baltic Sea – 7 July 2018

After a great night’s sleep in our cabin we settle in for a long day starting with a buffet breakfast.  Fortunately it’s calm on the Baltic Sea.

We roll from breakfast to reading and a bit of work, then to morning tea, more reading and then to lunch!  Then a walk around the decks, more reading before an early dinner.

The food on the boat is really good, with an enormous selection at the buffet, plenty of smoked salmon, yummy.  After dinner we pack our bags & go up on the deck as we come into Travemunde at about 9 pm.

There is some sort of festival going on, with different bands playing music all along the foreshore.  It’s very colourful & lively and we have a bird’s eye view from the upper deck.

The captain is very skilled as he slowly manoeuvres the boat into the dock.

This all takes quite a while, and then we’re called to our cars and we’re one of the first cars off which is good.  We don’t have far to drive to our hotel in Lubeck which is a very quaint family run hotel.
