MG Live – 3 June 2018

We are staying at the Bull Hotel in Stony Stratford and a few doors down is the Cock Hotel.

Apparently locals would tell a story in the Cock Hotel & then wander into the

Bull Hotel & tell the same story and that’s where the saying Cock n Bull story came from.  True!

The High Street is being closed off today as there is a classic car display on, we’re not part of this so we head back to Silverstone which as about 12 miles away.

Today at Silverstone there is a Concours on which is for the most original cars.  For the heavily modified cars there is a Pride of Ownership.  There are a lot more modern cars ie post 1997 here than T types & pre war cars, which is surprising. In particular the spectacular SV RS with it’s Mustang V8 motor.

The international director Peter Cooke introduces us to the Race Director Ron Gammons in Race Control.  Michael is in his element and is invited to sit next to the Clerk of Course.  It’s very interesting as Race Control has no view of the track except with 32 small TV screens.

MG Motors UK has a display of many new MG’s, especially the MGZS.  They also have a stunt driver, Ross Swift, who drives an MGZS around a small circuit on just 2 wheels.  Very impressive!

After we watch Dave Godwin race Birdcage in the Classic 50’s class we leave the circuit and drive to Harwich, where we have a tasty fish & chips dinner before boarding our ferry heading to The Hook of Holland over night.
