We have an early start today as we are heading into Bangkok as we need to beat some of the traffic. Wat Poh is a fabulous collection of Buddhist temples that houses hundreds of gold Buddahs, the most impressive of these being the reclining Buddah that\u00a0is enormous.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

There is an area here that is used to teach Thai massage \u00a0where there are images on the walls depicting all the nerve points in the body.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

Win organises 5 tuk tuks to take us to The Grand Palace, which turns into a tuk tuk race with each tuk tuk diving & ducking through the busy Bangkok traffic. \u00a0The more we screamed the bigger the smile \u00a0became on our drivers face. Surprisingly we all arrived unscathed and in 1 piece, what a trip it was fantastic fun.<\/p>\n

The Grand Palace was very busy as thousands of local people all dressed in black visit to pay their respects to the King who died last October. \u00a0It can take up to 6 hours for them to queue up and walk around the roped off area that leads them to the place where the King lies.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The palace is very ornate with it’s gold & many coloured tiles reflecting the sun. One of the most precious items here is the Jade Buddha.<\/p>\n

After lunch in the Thai Royal Navy Club we did a tour of the canals which was fascinating, with\u00a0huge water monitors, interesting houses\u00a0and temples and children swimming in what looks like very dirty water.<\/p>\n
