Jonkoping to Stockholm – 9 June 2018

Leaving Jonkoping we drive towards Stockholm up the west side of Lake Vattern and stop at a summer holiday beach for locals.  Despite being quite early in the morning there are several people already sun baking on the sandy beach.

We stop at a lovely town Hjo for morning tea in the town centre.

We drive through lush green forests along the lake and we stop at Askersund at the top of Lake Vattern for lunch.  We pull into an area along side a river. where there are boats moored. and find a picnic table to sit at and enjoy our lunch.

We arrive at our Airbnb apartment which is in the basement of a 3 storey house and is fabulously decorated by the sisters who own the house.  They are interior decorators and have a wonderful creative flair for making various items including the concrete coffee table & concrete stools, we just need to be careful not to walk into them.

After settling in we walk around the area of Sollentuna where we are staying and visit the local beach where there are barnacle geese & beautiful coloured ducks roaming around amongst the people.  The area seems to be quite affluent with several Tesla cars parked in the streets and large houses in lovely garden settings.

We decide to cook a meal rather than go to a restaurant so we buy some salmon & vegetables and a one use BBQ and create a wonderful meal that we eat outside on this warm evening.

It’s still light at 10 pm as we finish up for the evening.
