MG Live – 2 June 2018

This morning at breakfast in our pub we catch up with John & Ros as we didn’t arrive in Stony Stratford until quite late last night due to road works taking us off our planned route from Harwich.

MG Live is an annual gathering of MG’s in the UK at Silverstone Race Track.  There are about 3,000 MG’s, trade stands and marquees selling regalia. here today.

We park Shiraz & Goldie in the international area and to one side which is directly in front of the MG Car Club marquee.

There is a lot of interest in our 2 cars and we spend much of the morning talking to people about the cars travels.  We catch up with Mike & Jan Gething from Melbourne in the afternoon as well as Dave Godwin from The Gold Coast who is the instigator of the Pan American & Silk Road trips.

There are many MGB & MGBV8 racing cars and Michael talks to one of the drivers to compare the difference between the car set up in the UK to that in Aus.

Dave has his racing MGA, Birdcage, in the UK and he is doing a race series at tracks all over the UK.

There is a huge contingent of SAIC employees & MG customers from Shanghai here who brought their own banner with them.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the first London to Sydney marathon in 1968, when Paddy Hopkirk came second in an Austin 1800.  We have the opportunity to catch up for a chat with Paddy and some of his support crew are here today.
