20th June – Rasht to Sarein

Today we have a 288 km drive to Sarein.

Iran has a lot of roundabouts which help the traffic flow well rather than stopping at lights.  Nearly every roundabout has some wonderful statue or decoration in the middle of it.  Some of them are really spectacular and one even has a helicopter on it.

We stop for morning tea at an old fort with magnificent views over the Caspian Sea.

On the way to Sarein we stop in Ardebil to visit the Shikh Safieddin Mausoleum that is a UNESCO world heritage site with beautiful architecture and mosaic tiles.

We arrive at the hotel early and catch up on some work in our room.
